Marbleized silk and gilded antique frames line the walls of the entry hall created by New Orleans-based designer Melissa Rufty.

Product design aficionado Reagan Hayes created perfect balance in the parlor with warm wooden pieces and geometric accents throughout.

Birmingham-based designer William Rankin McLure IV filled the canary yellow walls of the dining room with his own paintings and sketches.

Classic silhouettes are juxtaposed with sleek, modern accents in the sitting area designed by Catherine Brooks Giuffre, founder of CBG Interiors Ltd. in Houston, TX.

Lindsey Coral Harper styled the butler’s pantry with an arrangement of heirloom silver, monogrammed cocktail napkins, champagne and caviar.

The whimsical family room by David Ecton and Lance Jackson of Parker Kennedy Living celebrates southern charm and the duo’s affinity for bright color.

Atlanta-based designer Michel Boyd took a modern approach in the study with an eclectic mix of textures.

The soothing blue and ivory color palette of the formal living room is a nod to the couple’s previous home in Los Angeles. Polished nickel light fixtures tie the traditional furnishings with the contemporary accents, including a colorful, attention-commanding Tony Tasset painting over the fireplace.

Named for its sunny, golden façade and French-style architecture, Château Soleil is one of the finest examples of European-inspired craftsmanship in all of Atlanta. The 14,000 square foot estate was the site of this year’s Atlanta Symphony Associates Decorators’ Showhouse and Gardens benefitting the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Several of the talented local designers worked with our team in Atlanta to find lighting to suit this exquisite showhouse!

Brooke Davenport‘s new family home in Southern California has a chic, casual style.  The light interiors with pops of bright color are a beautiful inspiration for summer interiors. We love the serenity of the master bedroom, featuring the Modern Table Lamp and Annette Floor Lamp.

T. Keller Donovan‘s design for this home is a perfect fit its Palm Beach location.  The vibrant coral  pattern is beautiful against the white walls in the living room, featuring the Dorchester Swing Arm Floor Lamp.

Come As You are

A beautiful Florida home gets a fresh and colorful design thanks to interior designer Andrew Howard.

We are so excited to share this breathtaking Savannah home, designed by Libby Putman and Angie Horne of Coastline Design Works, LLC in Savannah, Georgia. Our Savannah Showroom Manager, Courtney Saussy, has been raving about the beauty of this home since she first began working with Libby and Angie on the lighting design, and we could not be more impressed with the results!

The Historic architectural features of this traditional style home, and of course the picturesque scenery, inspired Libby and Angie to  design a home that would be classic and timeless. The interior selections are neutral, tone on tone, with lots of textures used throughout.  Classic and timeless transitional furnishings, with a hints of coastal elements, evoke an understated elegance.  By aiming their primary focus on the materials, tones and textures, rather than on color and finish, they achieved a design for this beautiful home that is as tactile as it is unique!

Full-set-Bulbs-flat

The Edison bulb — named after the renowned developer of the incandescent light bulb, has become an increasingly popular component of modern interiors.  Reproduction Edison bulbs are a clear glass light bulb with carbon filament exposed at the center.  Instead of an intense yellow or white glow, these bulbs emit an amber hue –setting the mood for a warm and relaxed atmosphere.  Since the filaments are visible and their light isn’t blinding, their sculptural filaments are often a main component of the bulb’s aesthetic appeal.

BRYANT LARGE CHANDELIER TOB5003 - (HOUZZ.COM) RETHINK DESIGN STUDIO

Edison bulbs used in the Bryant Large Chandelier to give this dining area an industrial look.

These reproduction bulbs look great in exposed light fixtures and can be used in a variety of design styles — adding an industrial feel to modern interiors or used in traditional interiors to provide a wonderful nostalgic look.

Traditional Home

We all know that beauty comes with a price…They’re more expensive than your standard bulb and not the most energy efficient, but their warm glow is one we just can’t resist and is hard to replicate any other way.

Here are just a few sources to find these vintage inspired bulbs:

1000Bulbs.com Wide selection of antique style bulbs, starting as low as $2
Antique Lamp Supply
This site speicalizes in antique style lighting along with Edison style light bulbs. Average price around $12.
House of Antique Hardware Offer a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and filament styles. Starting at $12.99.
Barn Light Electric Offering 9 bulb styles, starting at $11.

Some may disagree, due this bulb’s inefficiency, but we think Edison bulbs are a trend that’s not stopping anytime soon.

The Napa Valley Showhouse at Cardinale Winery in Oakville, California, opened October 5.  We are proud to be a sponsor of this stunning home, which was hosted by Traditional Home magazine. The location is breathtaking!

The foyer, gallery and powder room were designed by Kathy Geissler Best of KGB Interior Design. She chose the Dressage Round Chandelier by Suzanne Kasler for the foyer. The iron and leather fixture is a natural choice for the rustic, elegant home.

The master bedroom and bath were designed by Melanie Turner Interiors. She used neutral tones with stone and brass light fixtures. The Darlana Medium Lantern overhead in the center of the room with two Large Chunky Urn Lamps in Alabaster on either side of the bed. On the desk she chose the Estelle Display Lamp by Alexa Hampton.

The sitting area within the master suite is cozy and home to a couple of hooved feet stools. They are sure to be conversation pieces! A pair of Madeleine Floor Lamps were used for additional light at either end of the sofa.

So, what are your thoughts on the hooved stools – love them or leave them?

If you’re in the Napa Valley area, please stop by the house and enjoy a tour. All proceeds benefit the Napa Valley Film Festival. The home will be open to the public until November 11, 2012.
