Circa Lighting will be closed Monday, May 27th, in observance of Memorial Day.

Hopefully most of you will have the day off as well to celebrate with your family and friends.  No matter how you choose to spend this long weekend, we should all think about the reason for the holiday – to remember those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Scott McGillivary’s Income Property, which recently concluded it’s 7th season on HGTV, is all about buying real estate, becoming a landlord, and renovating.  As a proud supplier for the show, we couldn’t be more impressed with the end results.

Throughout the season Scott helps first-time homebuyers through the hunt and renovation of their first income suite.  As a real estate expert and contractor, Scott creates value for homes through his not only beautiful, but profitable renovations.

You would never believe that this modern, open-concept dining and living area was once a cramped hallway.  As seen in Season 7, Episode 10 of Income Property.

Lately we’ve received several photos of completed spaces from very happy homeowners and others. Here are a few that we thought you would enjoy as much as we did.

Outdoor Lantern - SAV

The beautiful porch and balcony above are part of an 1850s Greek revival townhouse that was turned into a condo. The outdoor light on the porch was purchased through our Savannah showroom.

Chandelier - SAV

Caged Lantern & Sconces - SAV

The two spaces above are part of another coastal home in Savannah. The Crystal Cube Basket Chandelier adds sparkle to the formal dining room while the Caged Lantern and Square Tube Wall Lights provide a warm, glow to the bathroom.

Goodmans - Donna

This stunning kitchen photo came from a customer in Coral Gables, FL. The primarily white space is sophisticated and functional. The five Goodman Hanging Lamps look amazing over the island and bar.

Hotel Hershey - ALA 2

The Hotel Hershey was an exciting project for our North East Sales rep to work on and these photos really don’t do the hotel justice. It is elegant; yet cozy and relaxing. Located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, it is a Four Star and Four Diamond Rated Resort. The room above features the Westbury Table Lamps by Ralph Lauren.

Hotel Hershey - ALA 5
The Bedside Ring Table Lamp was chosen in Polished Nickel for some of the guest rooms.

Hotel Hershey - ALA 3
A sitting area with two wing back chairs covered in rich dark colors is tucked away in a cozy corner.  The Cawdor Stanchion Wall Lights in Aged Iron work well with the lodge environment of the hotel.

Hotel Hershey - ALA
The Ingrid Table Lamps designed by Alexa Hampton are used in the lounge area where guests can visit and warm up by the fire.

Boston Sconce - ALA
Moorestown, New Jersey is the home of this traditional white kitchen. Over the sink they chose a Boston Single Arm Wall Lamp in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass with a White Glass shade for additional light.

Sconce and Smoke Bell - ALA

You can’t go wrong with a classic style like the Large Country Smoke Bell Lantern. In this kitchen, they used two over the island which provide more than enough light without dominating the design.

Which of these is your favorite? Do you have a photo of your completed space that you would like to send us? If so, feel free to email it to info@circalighting.com and we’ll be happy to share it.

Last Thursday the Downtown Design District hosted the annual Spring Fling in Savannah. The area was buzzing with folks wandering through all of the the charming shops in the historic district and enjoying the spring weather.

Our showroom was one of the hot spots during the evening as guests stopped in to admire the vast amount of fixtures on display. They were certainly drawn in by our newly “dressed” front windows that were completed that afternoon.

Ralph Lauren Home lighting was the focus in one window featuring such items as the Roark Modular Ring Chandelier and the new Laramie lamps.

Two gilded iron pieces that are part of the Charthouse Collection were presented in the other window – the Metal Banded Table Lamp and Pendant.

This past year was a very busy one for Circa Lighting. We have been blessed with tremendous growth which led to expansion in several of our showrooms and the relocation of our corporate office.

The changes began in May with the relocation of our Atlanta showroom to the intersection of Peachtree, West Paces Ferry and Roswell Roads (next door to Waterworks), just around the corner from our previous Andrews Drive location. The new space is much larger and provides us with an open and inviting environment for serving our customers.

In October, we revealed our newly renovated Charleston showroom during the Upper King Design Walk. The Charleston renovation was soon followed by the Savannah showroom re-design which was shared with our local customers during the Holiday Walk in early December.

Later that month, we opened our fifth showroom which is located in Chicago and we are just thrilled to be in the Windy City!

The excitement did not slow down as the year came to an end. We immediately began working on our new corporate office directly across the street from our current one on West Jones Street in Savannah. We officially moved in this past Monday and have been working diligently to get set up and organized.

The space boasts many exciting new features – double the square footage (with room to grow!), a large conference room equipped with the latest technology for more productive meetings and ergonomic work stations for healthier and happier team members – to name a few.

Below are some photos to give you an idea of what the amazing new space looks like. We are still putting the finishing touches on everything so we will follow up in a couple of weeks with more details and photos.

The Goodman Hanging Lamp by Thomas O’Brien is one of our most popular lights by far. It is available in a variety of finishes and sizes so there is one for every style interior.

Occasionally we come across someone who has gone a step further in designing their space and added a bespoke air to it. Athena Calderone custom painted two Goodman Lamps a dramatic gray to coordinate with the monochromatic kitchen in her Brooklyn penthouse recently featured in Harper’s Bazaar.

The brass interior of the shade provides amazing contrast against the bold color in the room for a modern, elegant feel.

Gray Goodmans

Miles Redd – in his signature glamorous style – chose a bright green to customize the Goodman Lamps in this dinning room and the result is breathtaking.

We would like to thank you for making 2012 an incredible year at Circa Lighting.

In lieu of holiday cards, a donation will be made to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund, United Way of Western Connecticut.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Circa Lighting!

We are well into the holiday season and we can’t get enough of the festive decorations!  Here are just a few inspiring ideas to get your home feeling simply brilliant and full of cheer for the holidays!

Keep your decor simple by adding touches of seasonal color, and mixing year-round decor with holiday accessories.

The Bead and Tassel Chandelier looks great in this living room with pops of red and icy blue that stand out against the snow-like background created by the white furniture.

Cool and warm tones set the mood for any holiday.

The Aspen Iron Wall Lamp provides an ambient light in the entryway to this cozy cottage.  The wreath, made of twigs and winter greenery, coordinates perfectly with the cabin’s earthy aesthetic for the right touch of Christmas cheer.

One of the easiest ways to achieve the holiday glow is with metallics that create sparkle well into the New Year!

The gold and silver accents adorning this mantel work perfectly with the Bryant Sconces in Hand-rubbed Antique Brass. The touches of evergreen and citrus add texture and interest to the room.

Lighting can make all of the difference when it comes to adding the right amount of drama to your room.

For a subtle, yet clever, change for the holidays, swap out your classic candelabra bulbs for modern globe bulbs.  They mimic the ball ornaments used to create a winter wonderland effect as seen with the Large George II Chandelier in the room above.

Have you completed your holiday decorating or are you still adding the finishing touches? What are some of your favorite items to use?

Visit Better Homes and Gardens website for more inspiring photos and ideas.

Our new Chicago showroom is open and ready for business!

Thanks to an amazing collaboration with a local publication, CS Interiors, and the outstanding support of the local community, the grand opening event of our new Chicago showroom on December 6th was a huge success!

Guests brought their business cards to be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a pair of beautiful alabaster table lamps. Local interior designer, Theresa Manglinong, was the lucky winner and she will be stopping by the showroom soon to pick up her lamps.

We officially opened the doors to the new 2,800 square foot showroom earlier this month at 444 North Wells. This space is Circa Lighting‘s first in Illinois and our fifth retail location nationwide. And location was the key factor in the decision to open a showroom in Chicago. The North Wells building was chosen for its classic architecture and history which dates back to 1910. In addition, it is just one block from the Merchandise Mart and close to the Loop.

Along with an expansive collection of decorative lighting, the showroom features a number of unique details. Customers will find innovative merchandising displays and meeting spaces tailored specifically to enhance a designer’s creativity. There are many beautiful architectural features such as high-ceilings to display hanging fixtures and wood floors.

High ceilings and vignettes help you visualize our unparalleled assortment of hanging fixtures and designer collections.

Sliding walls allow us to show double the amount of wall product we had before – more for you to choose from!

Seating for eight allows you to spread out to review design plans, access presentations on the digital media, meet with clients, review catalogs or try out different lighting looks.

Guests can relax, find inspiration by flipping through our collection of design books and magazines, shop the entire collection online and even upload photos of your project to reference while shopping.

The Atlanta showroom, which was redesigned and relocated earlier this year, was the inspiration for the Chicago showroom in terms of size and scale. The Charleston and Savannah retail showrooms were also redesigned earlier this fall–next will be the Houston location.

We are very excited about this new opportunity to serve the Chicago market and want to thank everyone who came to the event. We appreciate your support and look forward to a prosperous and happy new year in our new space.

The Chicago showroom is open Monday – Saturday from 10-6.
