Entry of the 2012 Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House,
featuring the Armillary Sphere Chandelier by Eric Cohler.

Circa Lighting is proud to be a sponsor again this year for the Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House in the charming community of Rosemary Beach, Florida. Interior designer, Erika Powell of Urban Grace Interiors, is the creative mind behind the project. She merged the coastal environment  with the cottage to create a friendly, serene home.

The entry and the den (featuring the Tiered Prism Form Cornice Hanging Lantern) both lead into the dining room. This space is designed to work for small, intimate meals or large family dinners. The slip covers on the chairs can take the wear and tear of daily use yet, add a touch formality to the room. The white-washed wood walls carry over into the kitchen where slip covers are again used on the bar chairs.

The combination of different finishes can be seen throughout the kitchen. The Goodman Hanging Lamps have antique brass lined shades, the faucet is bronze and the appliances are stainless steel. The mixture of metals keeps the space from appearing too formal and planned.

A pair of Simple Floor Lamps by Barbara Barry are used in the living room as an alternative to the typical side table and lamp combination. The three windows let in an abundance of natural light yet, the floor to ceiling drapes are perfect for hiding it on warm afternoons.

The master bedroom is traditional and slightly formal but, the serene coastal color palette is continued. The Lauren Table Lamps in celadon porcelain by Alexa Hampton are the perfect color and style for this room. The Millo Chandelier by John Rosselli adds an elegant touch overhead.

The window in the master bathroom allows natural light to come in yet  the shade provides much needed privacy. The Wilton Double Sconces are used on either side of the modern vanity with square drawer pulls in a similar brass finish.

A Marigot Chandelier With Seeded Glass Beads adorns the guest bedroom where the patterned bed frame is the focal point.

The guest bath is home to one of Circa Lighting’s most popular fixtures, the Bryant Sconce by Thomas O’Brien. With clean lines and brass finish, it’s the natural choice for the modern space.

The color palette is brighter in the girls’ room which is reminiscent of summer camp. The Andover Flush Mounts are used for overhead light while the Noho Double Yoke Torchiere Sconces were chosen for both the boys’ and girls’ rooms.

Bunk beds in the boys’ room are a great idea! The privacy curtains and sconces are just right for nightly reading.

Every house needs a game room, right? Watching movies or just hanging out on the comfy furniture is what this space is for and the Simple Cylinder Table Lamp in clear glass works great with the light, airy feel of the room.

The striped ping pong table also doubles as extra dining when the net is removed. What a clever idea! Erika chose the Longacre Floor Lamp by Thomas O’Brien for one corner of the room.

The color palette changes a little in the home’s theater which includes linen chaises and concrete side tables. The space is warm and cozy partly due to the lighting  – Small Hicks Pendants and Germain Double Sconces – installed on a dimmer.

Every home needs an outdoor living space, especially at the beach. And, this one meets all of the requirements with durable furniture, crushed oyster shell paths and colorful accessories.

An outdoor living space wouldn’t be complete without a pool and cabana, right? Can you see yourself relaxing in one of the lounges with a cold drink?

A portion of the proceeds from the house tour will benefit Rosemary Beach Foundation. To see the complete video tour, visit the Coastal Living website.

What is your favorite part of this charming cottage? Is it your ultimate beach house?

ATLANTA HOMES & LIFESTYLES

The Southern Living Idea House is a renovated farmhouse located in beautiful Senoia, Georgia. Since its opening on June 2, the response has been overwhelming. We are thrilled to have so many of our ceiling and wall lights featured by Tracery Interiors, the design firm who helped bring the farmhouse to life. They created a classic and comfortable home, which remains true to the style of the old south.

The foyer and entry way feel so welcoming with warm hardwood floors. A wide hallway runs through the house and allows an enormous amount of natural light to fill the space. A School House Flush Mount was used for additional lighting in the foyer.

As seen before, the white kitchen trend is still going strong, yet here, the white is contrasted with mixed finishes of brass and stainless. Henry Industrial Hanging Lights are functional, and bring a vintage touch to the room. A spacious kitchen island provides ample work space and an eating area.

The Boston Functional Double Sconce is used over the pedestal sink in one of the small bathrooms.

The Americana bedroom combines vintage and new, vintage-inspired pieces like the iron bed by IKEA. A Large Siena Flush Mount blends nicely with the style of the room.

Wood floors continue into the master bath, and the rug provides softness and functionality.  Yoke Suspended Wall Lights can be seen on either side of the vanity mirror. A claw foot tub is a natural choice in a southern home, and this one is unique with black painted feet.

Using a vintage vanity cabinet in the bathroom is a great way to achieve big impact. Boston Functional Single Sconces fit the look perfectly.

Playful blue and white wallpapered walls add so much charm to the home. The Bryant Sconce by Thomas O’Brien was chosen for this bathroom.

We hope you enjoyed the tour of the Southern Living Idea House, and hope you can visit it in person. The house will remain open to the public until December 22 and is located at 57 Morgan Street, Senoia, Georgia. Tickets may be purchased here.

We would like to thank everyone who attended this wonderful event! If you would like to attend our events in the future, join our mailing list.

We love brilliant design, and we love total renovations!

One of our clients, Susana Simonpietri, Director & Principal Designer of Chango & Co. recently revamped her online presence. Not only does the new site showcase crisp and clean features it also features new portfolios and gallery images for tons of interior design inspiration. Now that’s a brilliant combination!

While we were browsing Chango & Co.’s new website, we came across a fantastic example of a hot new trend we’re seeing a lot of … white kitchens with modern and sleek lighting fixtures. The example below comes to us from an East Hampton Beach house that was totally renovated by Chango & Co.

The site is so easy to navigate, we couldn’t help but notice a delightful design idea in the living room. We spotted our lovely, Clear Glass Cylinder Table Lamps filled with sand. The sand evokes the beach and seaside living as does the color scheme used throughout the space. It’s open and luxurious, yet nothing is overdone.

They also did a marvelous job with the styling of the room. The mustard yellow throw and other accents brighten this neutral space. The color draws your eye to a particularly comfortable looking spot. Wouldn’t you love to be relaxing or reading a magazine right in the corner of that couch with light provided by the Studio Pivoting Task Lamp?

Below, an uncommonly striking example of what a difference a graphic pattern on a larger scale can do for a room. The mustard yellow is used again, now against dark flooring. The Fiona Table Lamps in Mercury Glass make this room a fun place to stop and check your make-up in the mirror just before leaving for a lunch date.

Here are some more beautiful images of Chango and Co.’s recent projects.

We encourage you to stop by Chango & Co.’s new website for design inspiration, beautiful photographs and a generous sampling of exceptional design style.

Let us know if you like the behind the scene photos as much as we did!

We love sharing photos from our clients’ projects and this kitchen designed by Michael Abrams of Michael Abrams Limited is gorgeous!

In keeping with our recent story on the white kitchen trend that is so prevalent in today’s designs, this kitchen features white cabinetry, marble counter tops, warm gray tiles and stainless steel accents for a modern yet; classic look.

The island is really the focal point with two Small Cornice Hanging Lanterns in Polished Nickel. The space is open, inviting and comfortable – just as a kitchen should be.

We are thrilled to bring you an article written by Ashley Scherch, AIG. She is also an Interior Designer and Multimedia Director for Cabinets and Designs, Inc.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

White kitchens have surged and resurged since the dawn of kitchen design. Kitchens became the “heart of the home” in the 1920’s and have only continued to grow as the most used room in the home. Over the years, white kitchens have gained and seemingly lost popularity only to regain it a few years later. I believe they have established themselves on the list of lifelong trends. If done right, a white kitchen is classic and timeless.

In the past, most homeowners had distinct opinions of the white kitchen; they either loved it or hated it. Lately we have seen clients who previously despised the idea of a white kitchen highly considering and typically choose them as their finish!  The change of heart seems to root from the abundance of selection choices available today. Cabinet lines have added multiple shades of white from stark white to a creamy, country linen white. There are also the optional glazes, rustic rub throughs, high gloss finishes, and multiple distressing options (rock nicks, crackling, cow tailing, joint cracks, bird pecks, etc.). These different selection opportunities allow homeowners to create a white kitchen that suits their personal lifestyle.

Boston Functional Single Pendants in Bronze are featured over the sink.

A white kitchen used to be viewed as “cold and sterile” while now it is seen as “warm and welcoming.” The creamier finishes, espresso glazing, and distressing really soften up the look. The concept of two-toned kitchens can also create a warmer space. Many homeowners choose different finishes and/or different materials to update the “old” white kitchen feel. There are endless opportunities to create this look; choosing a stained finish on the island, on a focal point like the hood or sink cabinets, or using a different material/color counter top in different sections of the kitchen (see photo for an example where a homeowner used a white granite counter top on the perimeter and a grey slate on the island). This is perfect for the indecisive homeowner. If you love multiple finishes and materials you can use them all!  The trick is to make sure your designer/architect/contractor creates a cohesive look with the different finishes and materials.

For those of you who still doubt the white kitchen trend is here to stay, consider all the new door styles. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different door styles to choose from today. You can get the exact look you are going for through selecting the right door style whether contemporary, transitional, or traditional. There are slab, shaker, raised panel, recessed panel, light beaded, heavy beaded, square edged and profiled edged doors. There are a variety of styles within each category, leaving endless options for your space. Choosing the right door style is a perfect way to compliment a white finish.

Caged Lantern in Polished Nickel with Natural Paper Shade is featured over the island.

White kitchens have come a long way since the 1920’s. They have come and gone as trends, however, it appears they are here to stay! With the right white, glaze or distressing, the possible use of another finish, and the right door style; a white kitchen may sneak its way into your future. Work with your designer/architect/contractor to create a timeless and unified design with white… after all, white is the new white!

We are thrilled to be a sponsor again this year of the Hampton Designer Showhouse  presented by Traditional Home. The location is set in Water Mill, NY and benefits the Southampton Hospital.

So many talented designers participated this year, and we are so honored some of them selected Circa Lighting to brighten their spaces.

The beautiful den on the main floor is the vision of designer Kate Singer. The room works harmoniously with colors from the Hamptons’ landscape – blues from the ocean and neutrals that mimic the sand. The Lotus Floor Lamps in Plaster White by Barbara Barry are perfect for the space.

The kitchen was spectacularly designed by Robert Bakes of Bakes and Company who chose a modern approach with four of the Small Caged Lanterns in Polished Nickel over the island. He carried his approach even further by combining traditional elements with sleek finishes.

Blues and greens took center stage this year among many of the designers. Jennifer McConnell, VP of Design at Pearson, also added strong coral accents to her room. The color really pops against the neutral sofas. The Metal Banded Pendant in Gilded Iron has such a unique shape that it adds an artistic element to the room. Jennifer chose the Stacked Pot Form Table Lamp  for added light in one area of the room and the Bedside Ring Table Lamp for top of the glass front cabinet in the corner.

Dyfari Interiors had the task of designing the 50 Shades Adult Playroom and designer Diane Guariglia did a remarkable job! The room is bold and dramatic; yet, cozy and comfortable. The two Modular Ring Chandeliers in Polished Nickel look gorgeous against the backdrop of various textures.

The showhouse will be open through Labor Day so, please stop by for a visit if you are in the area!

Which room is your favorite?

Coastal Living’s Ultimate Beachouse opened in June and we have a couple of photos to share! As a sponsor, we are always excited to the see the finished product. The Deco Pharmacy Floor Lamp looks great in the living room where they used beautiful neutral linen fabrics for a cozy look.

They chose the  Goodman Hanging Lamps in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass and Antique White for the kitchen. Don’t you love the wood plank ceiling?

Coastal Living will feature the entire home in their October issue that comes out September 21st. We will have more great photos to share then so check back!

We are so excited to be a sponsor of the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year and, to have several of our lighting pieces hand selected by famed kitchen designer Mick De Giulio. This is the second year we have participated, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the result.

The polished nickel pendants over the sink make a statement, yet, blend seamlessly into the clean and classic design. Walnut floors add warmth alongside the wall of appliances trimmed in stainless steel.

Ann Sacks tile in white gold leaf is stunning behind the floating shelves.

The butler’s pantry or “jewel box” is one of the most eye-catching areas of the kitchen. De Giulio selected a Venetian-plastered ceiling and a pair of gilded Apollo Flush Mounts by Suzanne Kasler. Isn’t this an amazing look?

The full view of the ceiling is breathtaking!

The dining area blends textures and finishes for an eclectic sense. And, the aged iron chandelier over the table is a dramatic statement piece that sets the tone for the entire room.

The sitting area fully encompasses the “simple and classic” theme De Giulio created throughout the kitchen. And, he cleverly offset the TV instead of centering it. That was a brilliant choice. Don’t you agree?

The outdoor living space is complete with a brick oven and a large island for prepping meals and gathering with friends and family. A Marine Wall Light adorns the brick oven and French Conductor Lanterns flank the large windows.

There is still time to visit! The kitchen will be open to the public until tomorrow.

So, what is your favorite area of the kitchen? Is there a particular lighting piece you would like to have in your kitchen? Visit CircaLighting.com.

The June/July issue of Lonny Magazine just arrived and as always, has lifted our spirits with design inspiration on every page!

The masculine, Manhattan apartment designed by Ron Marvin is perfectly poised and sophisticated. There are touches contemporary design layered in with classic elements. The Ralph Lauren Boom Arm Desk Lamp fits in perfectly in this vignette with its clean lines and polished nickel finish for a modern touch on a vintage design.

The black floors steal the show in the dining room which includes the Bryant Small Chandelier by Thomas O’Brien.

The bedroom is warm with dark walls and crisp, white moldings. The Medium Morris Lantern by Suzanne Kasler adds drama to the space which also features the Porter Table Lamp in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass by Thomas O’Brien.

For those of you who watch Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis, you know how crazy and funny he and his assistant, Jenni, can be. If you’ve never seen the show, you should check it out on Wednesday nights at 9/8c.

While watching the show last night, we were so excited to see that Jeff chose our Caged Lantern by Eric Cohler in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass for over the dining table!

The light looked great and so did the new design of the living room, dining room and master bedroom! it was in typical Jeff style – clean lines, minimal accessories and yet very comfortable and inviting.

In the photo below, you can see how beautiful the light is over the table and how it is more proportioned to the scale of the room than what the homeowners had originally.

Here you can see Jeff, Zoila (Jeff’s housekeeper) and Jenni installing the Caged Lantern.

All of the before and after photos of Rob and Gretchen’s home makeover can be found  here. Check them out and then come back and let us know if you love it as much as we do!
