This symmetrical, elegant, and simply brilliant design has been around for centuries and we can’t get enough of how it’s being used in today’s modern interior design world!

Architecture

The quatrefoil is a classic shape used in architecture throughout the Gothic and Renaissance eras.  Its ornamental form, resembling a four-petal flower, has certainly withstood the test of time, being used more frequently in modern interior décor.

The chair back on this Alexandra Chair by Suzanne Kalser is a beautiful application of the quatrefoil in design.  This elegant motif can also be found in rugs, fabrics, wallpaper, light fixtures, and furniture.  The classic, yet modern, shape has been updated to fit many design schemes. Whether used to make a bold statement, or as subtle addition to your design — we love how the quatrefoil can be used to transform any room!

The Napa Valley Showhouse at Cardinale Winery in Oakville, California, opened October 5.  We are proud to be a sponsor of this stunning home, which was hosted by Traditional Home magazine. The location is breathtaking!

The foyer, gallery and powder room were designed by Kathy Geissler Best of KGB Interior Design. She chose the Dressage Round Chandelier by Suzanne Kasler for the foyer. The iron and leather fixture is a natural choice for the rustic, elegant home.

The master bedroom and bath were designed by Melanie Turner Interiors. She used neutral tones with stone and brass light fixtures. The Darlana Medium Lantern overhead in the center of the room with two Large Chunky Urn Lamps in Alabaster on either side of the bed. On the desk she chose the Estelle Display Lamp by Alexa Hampton.

The sitting area within the master suite is cozy and home to a couple of hooved feet stools. They are sure to be conversation pieces! A pair of Madeleine Floor Lamps were used for additional light at either end of the sofa.

So, what are your thoughts on the hooved stools – love them or leave them?

If you’re in the Napa Valley area, please stop by the house and enjoy a tour. All proceeds benefit the Napa Valley Film Festival. The home will be open to the public until November 11, 2012.

The lights were shining brilliantly last night as we welcomed so many friends during the Upper King Design Walk in Charleston, South Carolina. It was a wonderful event.  We were so thrilled to see many customers who came to help us celebrate our showroom renovation. We were also thankful to have met so many new friends at the event.

Many of our guests enjoyed fabulous bites from neighboring Macaroon Boutique, located on John Street. The boutique created authentic French treats for the event including raspberry, blue cheese and other tasty macaroons. They were delicious and pretty too.

The response to the renovation was incredible, with many commenting on how the showroom looked open, bright and welcoming.

Everyone loved the selection and the sliding door displays. There were so many beautiful table, wall, ceiling and floor lamps to choose from.

There was one lucky winner of a pair of these beautiful Gourd Bedside Lamps. We will announce the winner once they have been notified.

Entry of the 2012 Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House,
featuring the Armillary Sphere Chandelier by Eric Cohler.

Circa Lighting is proud to be a sponsor again this year for the Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House in the charming community of Rosemary Beach, Florida. Interior designer, Erika Powell of Urban Grace Interiors, is the creative mind behind the project. She merged the coastal environment  with the cottage to create a friendly, serene home.

The entry and the den (featuring the Tiered Prism Form Cornice Hanging Lantern) both lead into the dining room. This space is designed to work for small, intimate meals or large family dinners. The slip covers on the chairs can take the wear and tear of daily use yet, add a touch formality to the room. The white-washed wood walls carry over into the kitchen where slip covers are again used on the bar chairs.

The combination of different finishes can be seen throughout the kitchen. The Goodman Hanging Lamps have antique brass lined shades, the faucet is bronze and the appliances are stainless steel. The mixture of metals keeps the space from appearing too formal and planned.

A pair of Simple Floor Lamps by Barbara Barry are used in the living room as an alternative to the typical side table and lamp combination. The three windows let in an abundance of natural light yet, the floor to ceiling drapes are perfect for hiding it on warm afternoons.

The master bedroom is traditional and slightly formal but, the serene coastal color palette is continued. The Lauren Table Lamps in celadon porcelain by Alexa Hampton are the perfect color and style for this room. The Millo Chandelier by John Rosselli adds an elegant touch overhead.

The window in the master bathroom allows natural light to come in yet  the shade provides much needed privacy. The Wilton Double Sconces are used on either side of the modern vanity with square drawer pulls in a similar brass finish.

A Marigot Chandelier With Seeded Glass Beads adorns the guest bedroom where the patterned bed frame is the focal point.

The guest bath is home to one of Circa Lighting’s most popular fixtures, the Bryant Sconce by Thomas O’Brien. With clean lines and brass finish, it’s the natural choice for the modern space.

The color palette is brighter in the girls’ room which is reminiscent of summer camp. The Andover Flush Mounts are used for overhead light while the Noho Double Yoke Torchiere Sconces were chosen for both the boys’ and girls’ rooms.

Bunk beds in the boys’ room are a great idea! The privacy curtains and sconces are just right for nightly reading.

Every house needs a game room, right? Watching movies or just hanging out on the comfy furniture is what this space is for and the Simple Cylinder Table Lamp in clear glass works great with the light, airy feel of the room.

The striped ping pong table also doubles as extra dining when the net is removed. What a clever idea! Erika chose the Longacre Floor Lamp by Thomas O’Brien for one corner of the room.

The color palette changes a little in the home’s theater which includes linen chaises and concrete side tables. The space is warm and cozy partly due to the lighting  – Small Hicks Pendants and Germain Double Sconces – installed on a dimmer.

Every home needs an outdoor living space, especially at the beach. And, this one meets all of the requirements with durable furniture, crushed oyster shell paths and colorful accessories.

An outdoor living space wouldn’t be complete without a pool and cabana, right? Can you see yourself relaxing in one of the lounges with a cold drink?

A portion of the proceeds from the house tour will benefit Rosemary Beach Foundation. To see the complete video tour, visit the Coastal Living website.

We are so excited to be a sponsor of the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year and, to have several of our lighting pieces hand selected by famed kitchen designer Mick De Giulio. This is the second year we have participated, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the result.

The polished nickel pendants over the sink make a statement, yet, blend seamlessly into the clean and classic design. Walnut floors add warmth alongside the wall of appliances trimmed in stainless steel.

Ann Sacks tile in white gold leaf is stunning behind the floating shelves.

The butler’s pantry or “jewel box” is one of the most eye-catching areas of the kitchen. De Giulio selected a Venetian-plastered ceiling and a pair of gilded Apollo Flush Mounts by Suzanne Kasler. Isn’t this an amazing look?

The full view of the ceiling is breathtaking!

The dining area blends textures and finishes for an eclectic sense. And, the aged iron chandelier over the table is a dramatic statement piece that sets the tone for the entire room.

The sitting area fully encompasses the “simple and classic” theme De Giulio created throughout the kitchen. And, he cleverly offset the TV instead of centering it. That was a brilliant choice. Don’t you agree?

The outdoor living space is complete with a brick oven and a large island for prepping meals and gathering with friends and family. A Marine Wall Light adorns the brick oven and French Conductor Lanterns flank the large windows.

There is still time to visit! The kitchen will be open to the public until tomorrow.

So, what is your favorite area of the kitchen? Is there a particular lighting piece you would like to have in your kitchen? Visit CircaLighting.com.

We are so pleased to share the July 2012 issue of Architectural Digest with you which features many of our lights and one of our most beloved clients, Foley and Cox.

In the master bath below, the Pimlico Double Swing Arm Wall Lamps flank the mirror and look great with the hand-painted walls.

The next room is full of lively patterns from the wall paper to the fabrics. The ceiling light is the Mercer Square Box Light in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass and the Triple Swing Arm Wall Lamps are perfect for night time reading in bed.

Foley and Cox, who will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary in September, are the masterminds behind the next space which is relaxed and comfortable. On either side of the sofa they used the Moon Glow Table Lamps by Barbara Barry.

The spacious master bath features an amazing large, four pane window and three of the Wilton Sconces over the mirror for added light.

Thank you Architectural Digest for the great coverage and thank you to the designers who chose our lights for their spaces!

Last night was the big night – the 84th Academy Awards – and millions of people tuned in to see Hollywood’s finest honor the best of the best. But, have you ever wondered where the presenters and honorees hang out during the awards? We posted a sneak peak here a couple of weeks ago and we have more photos to share with you now of the backstage lounge area known as the Architectural Digest Greenroom designed by Waldo Fernandez.

Champagne was served from a custom-designed bar where the Terri Crystal Accent Lamp was used one one end and the Ruhlman Sconces in Antique Nickel were featured on either side.

In one of the main seating areas, the Longacre Small Table Lamp in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass adds accent lighting on a side table.

The Ruhlman Chandelier is a focal point over the table in one of the smaller sitting areas off the main living room.

The space is stylish and relaxing – wouldn’t you agree?

We are excited to announce that Circa Lighting is sponsoring the Green Room at the 2012 Academy Awards. Architectural Digest has chosen renowned interior designer, Waldo Fernandez, to create the room this year. The rendering above shows the Ruhlman Sconces that will be used among other items chosen to dress the space. We will be back with more photos of the finished room after the awards on February 26th. Stay tuned!!

M. E. Beck Design, Inc. is a Texas based designer that says attention to detail is their signature. The details in the dining room of this Austin home all come together perfectly to create a classic, elegant space.

The room is filled with a combination of textures from the fabrics, modern art and traditional furniture. The two Large Double Twist Chandeliers by Eric Cohler are a nice surprise in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass.

We just love the idea of using two chandeliers over the dining table for a nice change from the typical use of just one. Would you ever consider using two over your table?

SCW Interiors shares their “His and Hers” bathroom in the February 2012 issue of House Beautiful. The space is perfectly balanced with a clearly masculine side and elegantly feminine on the other side.

The sconces used on “His” side are the TT Single Wall Lights in polished silver with black paper shades.

On “Her” side of the bathroom, the Abbot Single Arm Sconces by Alexa Hampton are beautiful against the stunning wall mosaic.
